The beautiful thing about Lars and the Real Girl are the performances and the sense of a caring community. To say more would be to spoil it. This isn't as odd a movie as you might think. It has heart and is moving in a very effective way. I reccomend it highly.

The college newspaper article from 1989 that got me kicked, at last

many months ago, i shared the experience of my removal from jehovah's witnesses.

to quickly recap, i had faded from meetings as an unbaptized publisher starting at about age 14 and had later decided to attend college against the wishes of my family.

as i liked to write stories, i sought a job at the college newspaper and became a columnist.. i brought some of my newspapers home during the winter break of my sophomore year, the one time i visited my parents during college.

They dropped the approved associate label many years ago. They cannot announce someone is no longer an approved associate. So, you can go back and they can treat you as if you never started. If you do that then I would say you have lost your mind!

Will Generational Teaching Affect Recruitment?

this is my first post, so let me introduce myself briefly.

i am not, nor ever have been, a jw but i have a close family member who has been a witness for many years.

i have been curious about my relatives beliefs for some time but have only recently looked in any detail at what witnesses actually believe, which led me to this site.. i have seen references to changes to generational teaching but have not really understood what it was all about until i read the article let your kingdom come but when?

while doing work for a client in her office recently, we got into a light discussion about religion.

she knew i was one of jehovahs witnesses as our business relationship started while i was still a loyal and believing jw.

anyway, i said something that she knew didnt quite fit and she said ... i thought you were one of jehovahs witnesses ... i shared my story ... she felt comfortable to confide in me a story as to why, even though she has had dealings with jehovahs witnesses who she thinks are good people, she would never even consider listening to them about their religion.. i asked her if she would write it down for me so that i could share ... she agreed.. this is her experience.. .

not much.. he is directing the watchtower society to print magazines that contain errors.. the goats he separated from the sheep have had to be put back in with the sheep because of policy changes.. stray sheep have been ostracized and turned into lamb stew.. the war to end all wars (wwi) has been followed by wwii, korea, viet nam, and the cold one.

(no need to mention the war on terror.).

there have been earthquakes, famine, disease and a lot of marrying and eating at fine restaurants.. 1925 came and went without any ancient worthies moving in to the residence at beth sarim.. the world got so dangerous in 1975 nobody noticed it.. the generation that saw all the signs and wonders had been dropping dead like flies.

Don't forget how Jesus moved his "brothers" to build huge Branch offices all over the world and then had them closed and sold off. Hmm, he's a fickle one this Jesus the Jehovah's Witness.

Pioneer Service School Adjustment for 2014

the pioneer service school will now be only one week, monday thru saturday.. it will consist of 40 hours of instruction and illustrations/presentations.. the reasong given is that this will make it more accessible to the pioneers for due to work schedules and for congregations having to sponsor and support the school.. it will make it easier on everyone and those who haven't attended in the last five years may be able to attend this school with the new curriculum.. .

what do you feel would be included in the new curriculum.

probably more worship of the governing body and they don't need two whole weeks to get this across.. .

A sister I know went again, (3rd time long time pioneer) and she said they added a whole chapter/unit on the "new light". Added as in inserted notes in the book for the info covered, same old book nothing new in it yet. She still couldn't explain any of it. Poor thing.

the watchtower deceiving statement being: read the bible, the word of god, every day!

the watchtower bible and tract society states, with every fiber of its organization and publishing house, that you should not read the bible (not even everyday), without the holy bible additionally being accompanied by and explained by the watchtower bible and tract societys own publications.. the watchtower society and its witnesses claim that one can not understand the holy bible without the guidance of the watchtower publications.. the statement on the watchtower publishing building in brooklyn is therefore at best deceiving, lacking an under-title stating that one should not read the bible without the watchtowers additive writings.

thus the watchtower publishing house is deceiving (lying to) those who read this statement on their building... the watchtower publishing house is already familiar with explanatory subtitles to what they publicize, among others, the subtitles to the watchtower magazine.. the governing body of the watchtower witnesses (whom abuses g-ds holy name), excluded 4 out of the 7 members of the governing body in 1919, with the double vote by their president rutherford, when the watchtower magazines underscore shifted its wording from preaching the kingdom of jesus christ to preaching jehovahs kingdom.

Look you guys, I read the Bible three times as a witness and that was besides the regular weekly Bible reading. If you didn't do the Bible reading assignments in the school that's not the cult's fault. They do read the Bible regularly. I know the teachings are bogus but to say they dont encourage Bible reading is a bit disengenuous. It was that reading that helped open my eyes by the way.
